Beth Sholom Village
Â

Beth Sholom Village is Southeastern Virginia’s only continuum-of-care community for the aged that incorporates traditional Jewish values. We are a retirement community, assisted living facility, and a nursing home facility located in Virginia Beach, Virginia.
The Village includes:
• The Berger-Goldrich Home, is the premier facility in Virginia for skilled rehabilitation and long-term care, with a specialized unit for Alzheimer residents.
•The Terrace, a Harry and Jeanette Weinberg Assisted Living Center, offers studio, one and two bedroom apartments for those who need some assistance but wish to remain as independent as possible. The Terrace includes a Memory Enhancement Center for early stage dementia patients.
The Village also includes the Rose Frances and Bernard Glasser Health and Wellness Center, The Lee H. and Helen G. Gifford Rehabilitation Pavilion, the Fannie G. and Milton L. Friedman Welcome Center, the Helen and Daniel Sonenshine Art Gallery and the Auxiliary Religious and Cultural Center.

Next Generation of Care
Beth Sholom Village has been a leader in quality housing, assisted living, and health care for the aged since it opened in Virginia Beach in 1980. Today, The Village has moved forward and provides even more services for the welfare of today’s and tomorrow’s senior population.
The Board of Directors and administrative staff have been careful stewards of funds provided by residents, families, contributors and third parties. Beth Sholom prides itself on always exceeding the expectations set by its regulatory agencies.

The result is the highest staff to resident ratio in the region, particularly in nursing staff. In addition there are expanded mental health services for residents and specialized units for dementia and rehabilitation.
The key guiding principles of Beth Sholom have never waivered:

- incorporate Jewish values, customs and traditions into daily life
- serve all economic levels of the Jewish community
- maximize resident independence, dignity, privacy and choice
- focus on disability prevention and restorative care
- ensure resident safety and security
- assure financial viability and stability for our future
- foster aging in place
- And to organize a continuum-of-care, according to the strengths, needs and values of individual residents and clients.
The campus, named Beth Sholom Village, is a model for the area, state and nation. The latest advances in restorative care, technology, aesthetics, communications, meal preparation, infrastructure and inter-generational activities have been incorporated into the management of the facilities. Families are able to place their parents or other loved ones into The Home, The Terrace or The Sands with renewed confidence that they will be cared for with the love and respect that Jewish law demands.

Beth Sholom has always been synonymous with the best in long-term care and assisted living. At Beth Sholom Village, we provide comprehensive services for the elderly as a continuum-of-care. We are “The Next Generation of Care.â€

Jewish Customs and Traditions

Â
Beth Sholom Village is a community where Jewish families can find comfort in the knowledge that their heritage and traditions will be embraced and preserved. Whether it’s in a Sukkah each fall or around a communal Seder table each spring, Beth Sholom Village cares not only for the body, but the spirit as well.
Â
Religious services are a staple at Beth Sholom Village. They are held each afternoon, from Sunday through Friday, Shabbat morning, and Rosh Hoshanah and Yom Kippur, Passover, Sukkot and Shavuot. The Village's services take place in our Religious Cultural Center with handicapped accessible bimah (pulpit), movable seating and artistic stained glass windows.

Â
Beth Sholom Village observes all laws of Kashrut (Kosher). Residents and families can take comfort in not only the quality but also the variety of meals, many featuring traditional Jewish dishes, recipes and tastes. Indeed, we welcome families into our social and religious life. With the comfort of kosher meals, the aroma of fresh baked challah and the observance of Jewish holidays, our residents can continue to enjoy Jewish lives.
